Three legal issues you have to consider in the pre-production stage of making a product.

1.Copyright
2.Health and safety (risk assessment)
3.Permissions/licensing for location (release & consent from)

Data Protection Act

1. Definition of what it means:
Libel a written statement that can damage someone's reputation often seen in newspapers or magazine, Libel is defamation (saying something which is discriminatory to someone). Slander is a spoken statement that can damage a persons reputation.
2.Three reasons why it is important:
Breaching libel  can ruin a business, you can be sued or prosecuted.
3. What are the consequences of not adhering to this law?:
Slander have the rights to sue, you can be asked to page compensation.
4. Find an example of where this legal issue was breached:
Celebrity sues the sun newspaper for slander and Libel offences.
5. How does this law effect pre-production of a media product? Give examples:
You have to make sure your product does not form harm or offence.

Freedom of information Act:
1. Definition of what it means.
It allows the public to access information held about them,the government hold that information. eg. medical records, birth certificates, address.
2.Three reasons why it is important.
It gives the public the trust of the government as they can see all the information held.
3. What are the consequences of not adhering to this law?
They have a chance to fix a problem and are given decision notices and could be fined
4. Find an example of where this legal issue was breached.
They didn't supply information in the time that is given
5. How does this law effect pre-production of a media product? Give examples.

Copyright designs and patents Act:
1. Definition of what it means.
Stops copying someone's work and using it as your own. Anything designed should such as a logo, the colour, texture and design should be protected by this.
2.Three reasons why it is important.
To give people protection of their own work
3. What are the consequences of not adhering to this law?
people can be prosecuted for this and often made to pay a big fine. 
4. Find an example of where this legal issue was breached.
Copying a logo which is copyrighted and you don't have permission you can be prosecuted.
5. How does this law effect pre-production of a media product? Give examples.
You have to make your own products or gain permission for products you want to use

Intellectual Property 
1. Definition of what it means.
Describes a physical creation which a person has thought of.
2.Three reasons why it is important.
Keeps your product safe so people cant use it, beneficial for anyone who creates or designs a product. 
3. What are the consequences of not adhering to this law?
If you break copyright infringement you can be prosecuted get a big fine
4. Find an example of where this legal issue was breached.
Legal battles between Apple and Samsung between the intellectual property of their products
5. How does this law effect pre-production of a media product? Give examples.
You have to make sure to gain copyright or produce your own products.
