- Public have the right to access/ask for information from public sector organisations (NHS,goverment,police,mod)
- Public sector organisations are funded by the public/taxes so the public have the right to access their information.
- In pre-production you need to consider this if you are making documentaries/newpaper on the public service organisations because you need to access data to include.
- This can be harmful if people manipulate this data to use in the wrong way
- Concequences of not following the act: ICO give 30 days to amend the problem. Possible fine.

- If you want to use someone else's intellectual property you have to ask permission
- There is a time period in which you have legal ownership of a product (time frame)
- if you invent/make something as part of a company, the company will have ownership of it.

Data Protection act:
- Protection of sensitive data (passwords,account details "E commers", medical records, contact info,personal details)
- Encryption needs to be used to protect this data.
- People holding sensitive data are not aloud to share to a third party unless you agree/give concent.
- concequences of breaching: fines, possible prosecution
Libel and Slander:
- Libel- a written statement which could ruins someones reputation, false information.
- Slander- incudes hurtful/offensive language. Spoken statement which can ruin a persons reputation
